I live and teach in Gainesville and this is the first I have heard about this program. Couldn't they do something like this closer to home?

First off, I want to say bravo for your entry concerning the link between Master's Degrees and the quality of education for our children. Many times I have seen that teachers in my school shun Master's Degrees for the lack of financial incentives or the preconceived lack of usefulness to their careers.

A Master's Degree should be perceived as a tool to sharpen your teaching prowess, and to help increase the quality of education.

As to K Patterson, I had a great time getting an online Master's of Education at http://www.saintleo.edu. I also had the problem of needing a flexible schedule and distance learning turned out to a much better experience than I thought. You should look into it.

Unfortunately Ed, too many master's in education do not amount much for the teachers who earn them.

I've been studying to be a teacher at UF in Gainesville, FL for the past year, and this article definitely eased my concerns about the field. Thanks!

There is a lot of good teacher education programs out but the field is not even. In fact there should be some entity that rates teacher education programs so candidates can get a read on where to go to get prepared for 21st century teaching. Unfortunately, most teacher educators pretend they are all of high quality.

I like the writing structure of your blog and it does a pretty decent job of presenting the material.
